Built directly on the sea, with sweeping views over the Ionian, Villa Alexandros is a stunning new four-bedroom villa with private pool and garden. It is a short drive from the nearest village and 5-20 minutes from the beaches of Kefalonia’s sandy south coast.
Reached by a winding lane from the road above, Alexandros sits in a south-facing position, so all its terraces benefit from the wonderful sea views. The house is on two levels. Downstairs is a huge kitchen/living/dining room, with sofas, widescreen TV and a dining-table for ten; two large sliding glass doors open onto the terraces that run the length of the villa. Beside the dining area is a full kitchen, with utility room to the side. Also downstairs is a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom (with shower and bathtub) and French windows onto the terrace.
A broad staircase leads to three further bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superking bed facing a picture window, with sliding glass doors onto a veranda with sea views. The second bedroom, a twin, has a similar veranda, while the third bedroom (also a twin) looks out onto the hillside. The bedrooms are spacious, airy, with air-conditioning and mosquito screens and all have ensuite bathrooms.
Stone and marble floors help keep the villa cool, as does the constant sea breeze passing through the French windows. Outside, shade is provided by the roof over the terrace and two pergolas. The garden is laid to grass with the pool in the centre, flowerbeds to the sides and a barbecue at one end. At the other end of the garden a flight of wooden steps descends to a wide shelf of rock at the foot. The shelf, which needs careful negotiating in parts, provides a private spot for swimming and sunbathing.
